04 Oct No More Excuses, No More Limitations, No More Delays – Pr James Perez
Jabez name appears only in the book of Chronicles. He is not recognized by some super act, like killing a giant, nor climbing the highest mountain, or having a great army, he is remembered because of his prayer request to God. Imagine that, a prayer.
In his prayer, he asked God for 4 basic things, (1) to bless him, (2) help him in his work (“expand my territory”), (3) be with him in all he did, and (4) keep him from trouble and pain. Jabez acknowledged God as the true center of his life. When we pray for God’s blessing, we should also ask him to take his rightful position, as Lord over our work, our family, our time, and all that we do.
The Prayer of Jabez - ``Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, 'I gave birth to him in pain.' 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request.``(1 Chronicles 4.9-10 - NIV)
The one thing we know, is at the end of the verse it say’s “And God granted his request” We put so many obstacles before our prayer time and time with the Lord, that they never take off the ground because of our own excuses. Excuses – one of the definitions of this word is “a reason put forward to conceal the real reason for an action; a pretext”.
What excuses are you putting before the Lord? Remember the definition “the reason put forward to conceal the real reason” . What is the real reason you don’t want to be with the Lord? Is it some hidden sin that you don’t want him to know? (By the way, He knows it anyway) Is it that you have other things that take up your time? Other priorities? Only you.
